You need to change your firewall settings
- Log in to your router: To do this, type http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar of your browser
and log in with the login and password set during the initial configuration. - Click the “Security” menu item
- Then on “Advanced Security” in the submenu
- Uncheck the field „Ignore Ping Packet from WAN Port to Router“
Note: For other router models, the item may say “Enable Ping From WAN Port”. Here the tick must be set instead of removed - Click “Save” to save the settings
You should no longer have to re-log in every two minutes
The MAC address of the router can be found in two different ways

Wi-Fi name (SSID) can be found, in most cases, on the bottom of the router. During a restart, e.g. after initial configuration, it takes up to 2 minutes until the new name can be found.
Go to the login page at https://login.wohnheim.uni-mainz.de and log in again.
Modem routers (such as the Fritz!Box) do not work in the dormitory network.
You need a standard router – not a modem, Fritz!Box etc. You need a normal router. We recommend the TP-Link Archer A8, which you can get at MediaMarkt etc. The TP-Link Archer A5 is also OK, although a little slower. It is important that the router supports both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz.
